In Neo-Lagos, society uses Neural Audio Filters that perfect speech—removing hesitation, vulnerability, and authentic emotion. These filters create Voice Barriers that trap genuine expression. When our protagonist removes her filter and speaks her truth, the barrier cracks. Authentic voice ripples across the city, guided by the Nommo, shattering barriers and connecting people through genuine resonance.
This isn't just a story. It's what Nommo: Voices is building—a space where people break through barriers and share unfiltered truth through voice. The film is the mythology. The community is where that mythology becomes lived experience.
Before a story can be told, a world must be built. This video showcases that process—taking images from the visual concept storyboard and bringing them to life through motion.
Using Google Veo 3.1, select storyboard frames were transformed into short clips, then woven together with my original song "Decolonize" to create this 30-second visual exploration of Neo Lagos—a near-future metropolis where authentic voice breaks through digital isolation. Still a work in progress.
World building is a crucial step in the creative process. It helps establish atmosphere, visual language, and emotional resonance before the full narrative takes shape. This is that step.
Stories don't exist in a vacuum. They need space to breathe, context to resonate, and a world that feels lived-in. World building is how creators establish that foundation—testing visual language, exploring emotional tones, and discovering what the world feels like before the narrative begins.
For Neo Lagos, this means exploring: What does a society of performative perfection look like? How does technology manifest in the physical space? What visual language communicates isolation versus connection? This film is part of answering those questions.
